Machine Work Coordinates

Right Handed Coordinate System

Machinist tells the machine where the origin is located.

For this Project centered at lower left corner of the work piece.

Machine Motion

1. Table moves in X and Y dire

2. Tool moves along the Z direction

Absolute vs. Incremental(relative) coordinates

When using absolute coordinates, all coordinates are referenced from the origin of the work coordinate system.

When using incremental coordinates, all coordinates are referenced from the current tool position. These are discussed in detail below.
